The Chinese astrology is the divination of the future from the Chinese calendar, which is based on astronomy, traditional calendars and ancient Chinese philosophy. To be precise, it is based on the cycle of 60 years that has been recorded since the time of the Shang Dynasty at the latest. This basic cycle has been established from two cycles: the 10 heavenly stems (the five elements in their yin and yang forms) and the 12-year cycle of animals referred to as the Chinese zodiac sign. It does not take into account of the positions of the sun, moon and planets at the time of birth. Exact time of birth is needed while telling your fortune; after that, whether you will be successful in your life and career, or whether you will be happy is clear to the fortune-tellers.

What is Chinese Astrology?

Chinese astrology has a close connection with Chinese Philosophy and the theory of three harmonies of heaven, earth and water. It is based on a 12 year mathematical cycle, where each year is represented by an animal symbol which are the foundation of Chinese Astrology. Those animal symbols are assigned certain years, and hence one’s year of birth essentially decides one’s Chinese Sign. Beyond the years, other chronological elements including months, days, and hours are also assigned to these 12 animal symbols.

Chinese Five Elements Theory:

Besides this aspect, the balance theory of Yin-Yang, Wu Sing teachings and five elements theory or the five actions– metal, wood, fire, earth, air and wood also plays a major part of this discipline as they are believed to be the fundamental elements of everything in the universe between which interactions occur. Also known as "Five House" or "Five Planet" astrology.

Chineese Astrology is based on the five major planets in our Solar system: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. As per the Chinese astrology, all of these aspects can be used to define the past, present and future of a person, and can be used to come up with powerful and accurate predictions of a person’s traits and characteristics.

Mars Fire Snake, Horse
Saturn Earth Ox, Dragon, Goat, Dog

Yin-Yang Theory:

Along with the 5-Element composition, the Yin-Yang (陰陽) concept heavily influences the zodiac analysis. Everything in nature has two opposite aspects, positive and negative, white and black, they are intertwined and bonded, their force induces and complements each other’s existence, and they keep each other balanced and in harmony. Yin indicates dark, cold, negative, empty, even number, female, etc. whereas, Yang indicates light, hot, positive, full, odd number, male, etc. Yin-Yang represents opposite qualities or traits in all phenomenon and beings which impacts your fate.

Of the 12 zodiac animals in the zodiac chart in order, all the odd numbered animals are Yang and the even numbered animals are Yin.
